As part of our company ethos and ongoing fundraising efforts, we wanted to be able to give something back to local charitable causes in an effort to help raise awareness and support them during 2019. All of the staff came up with suggestions for local causes and charities and collectively we voted on the ones that we felt we could help the most this year.
We didn’t have one, but two charities chosen overall for the year and it was unanimously decided that the charities would be Touchstones in Redditch and the Ronald McDonald House Charity.
Touchstones is a local charity that supports bereaved children and offers support and guidance through difficult times of their lives, having lost a parent or close family member and helps the children with the grieving process.
We are also supporting the Ronald McDonald House Charity at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital, the charity itself provides free ‘home away from home’ accommodation to families whilst their child is in hospital, which allows parents and families to stay close by at a times of great stress and worry for the children, truly invaluable support.
The money raised comes from different sources within the business, and has been primarily donated through massage sessions that are offered at the Innovation Campus, whereby staff pay a small fee for the massage and the company pays the full amount, allowing us to donate the extra funds.
We also encourage any other fundraising events staff may be willing to run or participate in at the Innovation Campus, and recently held a food tasting day with a small donation being made by all attendees, this was a great hit and one event we look forward to holding again, especially for the desert options!
